Are you out there???

I want to see if the students of BCLHS are reading my blog. So, the first person who can come to my office and tell me the two uniform issues I mentioned in the last entry will win a prize!! Let's see who wins!

Uniform Checks

Today I began my visits to homeroom to check uniforms. Overall, the students at BCLHS wear the uniform very well. There are two infractions that I will be looking for: skirts that are two short and khaki pants that are not uniform. In case you are not aware, you must wear the khaki pants sold by Dennis Uniform Company - Dickies are not allowed. So...adjust your skirt length and/or make sure you have the right khaki pants before I get to your homeroom! I look forward to your comments and suggestions!

Good Habits

Maybe some of you have read "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens". If not, its a great resource for helping to "pull your life together" and establish some good habits that will help you now and in your future. Here are the seven habits:

Habit 1: Be Proactive®
Take responsibility for your life.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind®
Define your mission and goals in life.

Habit 3: Put First Things First®
Prioritize and do the most important things first.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win®
Have an "everyone-can-win" attitude.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood®
Listen to people sincerely.

Habit 6: Synergize®
Work together to achieve more.

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw®
Renew yourself regularly.

An Inspiring Story

I was looking for something interesting to post on my blog when a friend sent me this link to youtube. The video tells the story of a young man who can't see and can't walk, yet he plays several instruments and is in the marching band at his university. How is that possible? Watch the video above and find out. It reminds us all that so much is possible if we are only willing to do what it takes. A good thing to think about at the beginning of the school year.

A Great Start!

I really enjoyed getting to meet all of the BCLHS students on Thursday and Friday. I think our year is off to a great start. Remember, you can choose what kind of year you have at school. Make the decision right now to have a great year by making good choices. Your academic performance and your behavior is completely within your control. Please let me know how I can help you have the best year possible.
